COVID-19 Resources
During this global health pandemic, protecting the health and safety of our employees, residents and visitors and providing timely and factual information is a top priority for the City of Okeechobee. The City will continue to monitor and respond to this evolving situation. Our decisions will be based on recommendations from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Florida Department of Health, as well as direction we receive from the county, state and federal authorities.

Federal Paycheck Protection Program for small businesses. There's lots of info from the Small Business Administration and U.S. Treasury about the new Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, passed by Congress which allocated $350 billion to help businesses keep workers employed., provides 100% federally guaranteed loans to small businesses. Re-Employment (and Unemployment) Assistance. As your business endures these ever changing times, the Florida Department of Opportunity has prepared a Re-employment Assistance FAQ with information for employers and employees on unemployment compensation. If your business is currently experiencing a slowdown, please consider learning about the Short Time Compensation program to help retain your workforce with prorated unemployment benefits for reduced hours as an alternative to layoffs.
