Mission Statement
To provide effective and efficient administration of the City’s finances through the application of accepted accounting policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
The Finance Director, under the supervision of the City Administrator is responsible for:
- Central accounting, revenue collection, and cash disbursements
- Accounts payables, receivables, and payroll
- Budget preparation and monitoring
- Maintain reasonable controls to protect City’s assets
- Safe guarding and investment of all public funds
- Preparation of financial reports
- Administration of insurance benefits
- Risk management
- Business tax application issuance
Vision
The Finance Department endeavors to provide timely and accurate information regarding City’s finances to the City Council, City Administrator, and City Departments to enable all to make informed, educated decisions for the citizens of the City of Okeechobee.
